We are proud to announce the opening of our new Rheumatology practice in the Outpatient Center.
Benjamin Widener, MD, began seeing patients on August 3, 2020.
Dr. Widener completed a Fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, Nebraska, and has returned to his hometown of Sheridan to continue serving the community and surrounding region. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine In Internal Medicine and In Rheumatology.
As a medical specialty, Rheumatology is new to Sheridan. The hospital’s new practice will focus on diagnosing and treating persons with:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Psoriatic arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- As well as many other inflammatory and autoimmune diseases that affect the body’s musculoskeletal system including joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Rheumatic disease and similar conditions can be complex, and patients benefit from the care of a specialist, particularly within a collaborative care network, like the team here at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
If you are interested in seeing Dr. Widener, please contact your primary care provider about obtaining a referral to Sheridan Memorial Hospital Rheumatology.
