Detecting cancer early is key to improving your results or successfully fighting the cancer. Sheridan Memorial Hospital and the Welch Cancer Center offer many screening and diagnostic tools that aid in the diagnosis of cancer. These include:
- Mammograms (imaging department)
- Colonoscopies (surgical services department)
- Pap tests and HPV testing (offered through Women’s Health and Internal Medicine)
- Biopsies
Depending on your symptoms, your physician may order some of these additional imaging procedures used to assist in diagnosing cancer:
- Computerized Tomography (CT) Scan
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Pet CT
- Ultrasound
- X-ray
- Nuclear Medicine
Our laboratory provides pathology services that are helpful diagnostic tools to look for abnormal cells:
- Analyzing tissues from biopsies
- Blood analysis such as PSA tests (prostate screening to detect abnormal levels)
