New Family Nurse Practitioner – Amy Davis, FNP
June 19, 2019
From New Hampshire to Wyoming, new Family Nurse Practitioner Amy Davis feels like Sheridan is a place she can call home.
It’s a long way from the White Mountains of New Hampshire where she grew up, but Amy Davis, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC), feels like she has found a place she can call home and raise her twin, one-year-old boys.
“I lived in Bozeman for eight years and fell in love with the West. After moving back home to NH to take care of family, I realized I really missed it out here. I heard Sheridan was a great place to raise a family,” Davis said. “We also love the outdoors and Sheridan has opportunities to explore in abundance so we are looking forward to creating a balanced family life here.”
Davis is a new provider at Sheridan Memorial Hospital and began working with the Internal Medicine group on April 29. She is focused on family practice for her education because she likes working with patients of all ages.
“I really enjoyed working as a nurse in several realms of health care including neonatal intensive care, pediatrics, women’s health and family practice so it seemed natural to pursue my career further caring for patients of all ages,” she added.
Davis began her career concentrating on wildlife instead of people with her first undergraduate education. She traveled around the U.S. working in the field of wildlife biology for the Forest Service, but ended up going back to school to pursue nursing.
“I found that I really enjoy caring for people. The reward from a day of work where you care for someone and see their life improve is unbeatable,” Davis said. “It is a rewarding profession and I feel good at the end of each day.”
Her healthcare career has provided Davis a multitude of opportunities to hone her skills. Her most recent stop was at Littleton Regional Healthcare in Littleton, NH where she filled the role as sole provider in the Occupational and Employee Health Department. Other experiences include Family Practice at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in NH as well as Community Health Centers in Montana and Oregon.
When she’s not helping patients in the office, Davis enjoys running, hiking, kayaking, tennis and bird watching. She is also looking forward to getting involved in some adult sporting leagues in the area when time allows. “I played field hockey in college and enjoy team and competitive sports,” Davis said. “I’m really looking forward to seeing what Sheridan has to offer.”
