Wyoming Rehab’s state-of-the-art sports medicine program utilizes the extensive knowledge and background of our staff including physical & occupational therapists, exercise physiologists, strength coaches, and personal trainers. We even employ the skills of our massage therapists for sports/therapeutic massage, if needed.
First and foremost, our aim is to educate our patients & clients on injury prevention with proper training and conditioning. Sports-related injuries will undoubtedly occur however, and when that happens our well-qualified team of professionals are here to treat those injuries. Our goal is to facilitate the patient’s healing process such that they can return to activity as quickly and safely as possible. We provide appropriate and effective treatment that is individualized to meet the needs of each patient, which is critical to the healing process. Our staff consists of medical professionals who understand the science behind tissue healing, physiology, anatomy and functional biomechanics. Most of us are/were athletes ourselves which lends additional insight and credibility to treating these athletic injuries.
Wyoming Rehab started and developed the Sheridan High School athletic training program over ten years ago and we continue to heavily support this program. We work closely with the athletic trainer, Joanne Brewster, MS, ATC who is employed by Sheridan High. Our therapists regularly assist Joanne with screening of athletic injuries, coverage of home games, and the rehab programs of injured athletes. Also, our annual 3-on-3 street basketball tournament, Hoop Jam, helps to directly fund Joanne’s position and the program in general.
Sheridan Memorial Hospital’s Wyoming Rehab and Sheridan School District #2 support the athletic training program, which provides services to Sheridan High School. Joanne provides these services at School District #2. Joanne has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a master’s degree in Health and Human Development. She was previously an Athletic Trainer at Montana State University. Proceeds from the annual Hoop Jam held every summer in downtown Sheridan go to support athletic training and Wyoming Rehab’s continued advancement of Sports Medicine.
