Hospital Emergency Department Moving back to East Side of Hospital June 27, 2006 -- Construction is complete and Sheridan Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be moving back to the east side of the hospital at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28. "Persons who need to come the Emergency Department any time after 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28 need to watch for the large red EMERGENCY signs on the east side of the hospital. If you are coming to the Emergency Department, you may enter via the Medical Arts Complex entrance (east of the hospital) and follow the red emergency signs to the Emergency Department. Or if patients are unable to walk up to the doors, the driver may bring them up to the Ambulance Entrance under the large emergency canopy," according to Cecile Pattison of Community Relations at the hospital. "We have installed lighted signage to direct people to the Emergency Department. When we make the move on Wednesday morning, all of this signage will be uncovered and lit," Pattison added. "We anticipate no interruption of Emergency Services at the hospital with a very smooth move of the department. A transition team of hospital staff members has been working on the logistics of the move for several months. Local emergency providers have been notified of the move and we are prepared for the re-location," Pattison said. The $4.9 million project expands the hospital’s 25-year old Emergency
Department from 2,800 to nearly 13,000 square feet.
The project allows for increased patient privacy, confidentiality and
safety and will help the Emergency Department staff deliver professional
emergency care to an ever increasing patient population. The Emergency
Department has been temporarily located on the West side of the hospital since
construction began in April 2005. |
