Emergency
Department Expansion Project is Complete!!
June 28, 2006 -- Construction is complete and Sheridan Memorial
Hospital’s Emergency Department has now relocated back to the east side of
the hospital.
"Persons who need to come the Emergency Department need to look for the large red EMERGENCY signs on the east
side of the hospital. If you are coming to the Emergency Department, you may
enter via the Medical Arts Complex entrance (east of the hospital) and follow
the red emergency signs to the Emergency Department. Or if patients are unable
to walk up to the doors, the driver may bring them up to the Ambulance Entrance
under the large emergency canopy," according to Cecile Pattison of Community
Relations at the hospital.
Emergency Department Expansion
Sheridan Memorial Hospital is an area trauma hospital. Its Emergency
Department is the first and only line of defense for medical emergencies
and trauma in Sheridan County and the surrounding area.
A construction project to expand the hospital’s 25-year old Emergency
Department began in April of 2005. This expansion will enable Sheridan
Memorial Hospital staff to deliver professional emergency medical care to
an increasing patient population in an environment that affords maximum
patient privacy, confidentiality and safety. The project includes an
increase from 2,800 square feet to 12,300 square feet.
During the construction period of approximately 11 months, the
Emergency Department has been temporarily relocated to the west side of
the hospital. A wing of the hospital has been remodeled to accommodate
emergency services. This temporary location actually has much more room
than the old Emergency Room.
Persons who need to come the Emergency Department should follow the
signs past the hospital and turn north on Kentucky Avenue, which is the
street that runs between the main hospital building and the Welch Cancer
Center.
An update of recent events...

Artist's rendering of new Medical Arts Complex
Ambulatory or non-emergent healthcare in Sheridan
is making a dramatic shift, a change for the better, and Sheridan Memorial
Hospital is answering the call of the community to create high quality,
affordable services and accessible facilities. The new Medical Arts
Complex is one example of Sheridan Memorial Hospital’s commitment to
making this effort a reality. The new facility will allow patients to
experience direct point of service healthcare and ease of access with
convenient parking facilities.
A new Medical Arts Complex is now being completed. It is located on the
east campus of the hospital grounds. This facility includes Sheridan
Radiology - a
medical imaging center, ancillary health services, and medical office
suites, which means physicians can conveniently
locate their offices on the hospital campus.
Sheridan Radiology, which opened in November 2005, provides Northeast
Wyoming with medical imaging capabilities equal to those found in major
cities across the United States. It offers the latest technology for
imaging services including a GE 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
unit, a Toshiba 16 slice Computer Aided Tomography (CT) machine, Computed
Radiography (x-ray), and a Picture Archiving and Communications System
(PACS), all of which have digital capability and allow the Radiologist and
your Physician to communicate quickly. Most importantly, the images are
brilliant - clearer, sharper and more accurate than ever before.
The imaging center has a special center for women’s imaging which offers screening mammography, stereotactic
biopsy and ultrasound. Maximum privacy and comfort are the objectives,
with a private waiting area and separate, conveniently located dressing
rooms.
