BURLINGTON NORTHERN SANTA FE RAILROAD FOUNDATION SUPPORTS SHERIDAN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL PROJECT

The Sheridan County Memorial Hospital Foundation announced today the receipt of a grant of $7,500 from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Foundation.  The grant was made to support the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) project at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

The TCU is an area of the Hospital used to help patients transition back home after receiving acute care.  The area, in the south wing of the Hospital, is being redesigned and updated to enhance transitional care and present a more homelike environment for patients.

The $100,000 renovation project includes new paint, wallpaper and flooring in the rooms.  The project also includes the addition of a communal kitchen and laundry area as well as an activity room to be used for occupational therapy, relaxation and time with families.  An outdoor patio and garden area will be completed later this year. 

Funding for the TCU is being provided solely through donations to the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation. To date, in addition to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Foundation grant, the project has received additional support from the Edwin T. Meredith Foundation and the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

The Foundation is also staging its Seventh Annual Benefit on Saturday, April 26 to help support the TCU project.  The program will feature Karen Clift and Spencer Bohren who performed at last year's benefit and are returning by popular acclaim.  For this year's concert, Spencer and Karen will continue their exploration of a wide   For this year's concert, Spencer and Karen will continue their exploration of a wide spectrum of music, from classical to folk to blues, and even a bit of Rock ‘N' Roll.  There's no other show quite like this one, and it promises to define the old adage, "expect the unexpected!"

Annette Kassen, TCU Coordinator, expressed her enthusiasm for the Hospital's TCU project:  "I love it!
