Emergency Department
Expansion
A Community Healthcare Project
Sheridan Memorial Hospital is an area trauma hospital. Its Emergency Department
is the first and only line of defense for medical emergencies and trauma
in Sheridan County and the surrounding area.
THE PROBLEM: The current Emergency
Department is twenty-five years old and has become seriously inadequate because
of increased patient volume that causes patient privacy and safety issues. This
project will insure we have the best environment for patients and staff.
THE SOLUTION: The solution to the problem is
to expand, reconfigure and equip the Emergency Department. This will enable
Sheridan Memorial Hospital staff to deliver professional emergency medical care
to an increasing patient population in an environment that affords maximum
patient privacy, confidentiality and safety.
The project includes an increase from 2,800 square feet to
12,300 square feet and presents an opportunity to renovate
the Laboratory and Intensive Care Unit.

"I had the unfortunate experience of having an
accident that put me in Sheridan Memorial Hospital for nine days. I’m pleased
to say that the care I received was impressive--the staff was excellent. Even
in the Emergency Department where space is limited and privacy is an issue, I
still had exceptional care. The Emergency Department Expansion Project is vital
to our community and will benefit all of us. Doug and I support it fully,"
